Hi all,
With Anti-P2P group on the move it is better to use connection blocking software to block connection from those evil demons. For windows based system please use Peer Guardian available at PeerGuardian2 For GNU/Linux based system I wish to recommend MoBlock available at MoBlock or GuardDog which is a GUI for IPTables. or For list of IP to block you can use block list from either OpenMedia or BlueTrack. For software based firewall on windows you can use Sunbelt-Kerio Personal Firewall or Zone Alarm For Anti-Virus software on both windows & Linux you can use Anti-Vir The product is well developed and supported and it is very efficient. For root-kit removeal you can use Panda Anti-Rootkit IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY Hope this helps dmef |

Hi all,
In uTorrent we can place the IPFilter.dat file in the %APPDIR%/utorrent folder and it will automatically load it on start up and will block bad connections. Anti-Vir will scan the blocks as and when they are downloaded so it is much more effective than other anti-virus software. dmef |

Hi,
OpenMedia and BlueTrack both of them have the files with file names like ipfilter.v012x or pipfilter.dat pipfilter lists even slightly suspicious network so it almost impossible for evil demons to enter. but it is very vast sometimes good connections do get included by mistake so use it with care. hope this helps dmef |

I use Azureus BT Client and they have a plugin called "SafePeer" w/c acts like PeerGuardian2. The good (or bad?) thing about it is that it doesn't block IP's connected to your web browser so you can still surf w/o having sites being blocked.
I see you've made a list of "protection" softwares there. May I also suggest the ff: AVG - antivirus a-squared free - anti-trojan Spyware Terminator - realtime protection anti-spyware Ad-Aware 2007 - on-demand scan anti-spyware Comodo Firewall Pro - firewall All of these are freeware (some have a full version that aren't free). I've personally tried all of these and so far so good. My computer haven't been infected yet and I haven't experienced program conflicts yet. Spyware Terminator slows down my PC a bit but that may be due to my old PC. Need to upgrade... ![]() |

I never had any luck with Azereus maybe I just don't like the Java GUI but I'm sure a lot of ppl will need to know how to get and use that plugin.
Btw, what's the max speed you got with Azureus? |

Hi HeartbreakOne,
Thank you for posting more programs, hope our users find this useful. In PeerGuardian2 you can turn off http blocking so you can still visit the websites without those evil guys getting connected to your P2P software. The reason i emphised on PeerGuardian2 was it is actively developed and its list is most up-to-date. Have a nice day, dmef |
